Challenge Day 23- Whitewater Center adoption event with 'A Rare Breed of Love'

For Challenge Day 23, I did something fun that also helped some homeless puppies get a chance to find a home. I wrote about it earlier this week, but today at the Whitewater Center, Jana Kohl, the author of "A Rare Breed of Love" (www.ararebreedoflove.com) came out with her dog, Baby, who was rescued from a puppy mill to help to educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills. Does that sound like a gloom and doom kind of event? Good news! It wasn't. There was festival style atmosphere with Bryan Harrell (www.byranharrell.com) singing bluesy songs about Baby's story, Park Road Books (www.parkroadbooks.com) selling copies of "A Rare Breed of Love," and Jana signing the books and posing for photos. Also, Project Halo (www.projecthalo.net) brought out some of the cutest adoptable puppies around. I held a 3 month old Beagle mix and a 4 month old Border Collie mix all day, and, yes, they found some prospective homes. It's only a matter of time before they get to go to their forever homes. All of this was going on with the beautiful Whitewater Center (www.usnwc.org) as a backdrop. The weather was beautiful and the cause was beautiful. It was a great day.
